Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

At Lodestar Academy, we believe that every child should be supported to achieve success academically, socially and emotionally, irrespective of their background and current circumstances.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. Our school’s objective in spending our Pupil Premium is to ensure that all children in receipt of free school meals (or who have been previously), those from service families or children who have been ‘looked after’ (in social care) are attaining their full potential with the ultimate goal of all children reaching or exceeding age related expectations. The proportion of pupils for whom the school receives the Pupil Premium is high in comparison to schools nationally.

See documents below for how our Pupil Premium funding is spent.

Covid-19 Catch-Up Funding

In June 2020, the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.

AP settings received an allocation of £240 per child; as a result, Lodestar Academy received £13,200.

The plan for expenditure is attached; more detailed information, regarding the impact of the sums spent, is available on request.
