We make sure our students know who and where they can turn to when they need help. Our tutors/teachers, safeguarding and pastoral teams are the first port of call for our students in a time of need. Identifying our students' social and emotional needs early is essential, we do this by building trusted relationships, letting them know we are in their corner whilst focusing on social-emotional skill building and equipping students with tools to express their feelings, manage anxiety and build self-esteem.
We work together with parents/carers and collaborate with external agencies to ensure our students get early help whenever the need arises. By fostering these collaborations we can work together to make a difference in the lives of young people.
Our students' resilience is enhanced by the Personal, Social, Health, Relationships and Economic (PSHRE) curriculum, where our students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to manage their lives now and in the future. Topics covered in PSHRE include sex and relationships, drugs and alcohol, financial management, British Values, careers, healthy lifestyles and emotional wellbeing.
Our SEND team can deliver targeted interventions and give support to students who have been identified as having Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
If you are a parent/carer and have concerns about your child’s mental health and wellbeing, please contact their tutor or a member of the pastoral team who will support you and your child. We can, wherever needed, make referrals to other appropriate support services such as the local Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) or the school nurse team.
